Working at CSU

Lisa Anaya recipient of Everyday Hero Award

July 3, 2014

Lisa Anaya, Research Administrator in Sponsored Programs, has been recognized with an Everyday Hero Award by the Classified Personnel Council.

Lisa was nominated  for an Everyday Hero Award by Mingzhong Wu in the Physics Department.

Lisa has been employed at the University for 17 ½ years and has been at her current position for four years. She belongs to the organization NCURA, National Council of University Research Administrators.

In-depth knowledge

Mingzhong nominated Lisa for an Everyday Hero Award because of her in-depth knowledge and assistance in submitting research proposals.

“I have submitted a good number of research proposals through the Office of Sponsored Programs to a variety of sponsors (federal, commercial, and non-profit agencies) in various formats (grants, cooperative agreements, and sub-contracts)," Mingzhong said. "Lisa has in-depth knowledge of agencies and rules, always provides me very detailed guidelines regarding both proposal preparation, online proposal submission, and project reporting, and assisted me in the understanding of various regulations and policies and also complicated proposal submission procedures.

"Furthermore, Lisa does beyond the expectations of her position," he added. "She always provides very timely and accurate response to my inquiries and questions via either e-mails or phone calls, shows a great deal of patience, provides me recurring instructions, always contacts me in a timely manner to seek clarification and consistency, and always makes sure my proposal is submitted on time.”

Simple path to CSU

Lisa’s path to CSU was a simple one: She relocated to Fort Collins and CSU was a desirable employer.

When Lisa is not working she enjoys traveling to big cities throughout the United States.  Seattle and Miami are on her list of places to visit soon.

When asked what she thought about being nominated for the Everyday Hero Award, Lisa said, “I am humbled and appreciative for being nominated.”  She feels it is just what she and her team does and they enjoy it.  Lisa has a real team philosophy.

Mingzhong described it differently.

“There were also a couple of time when I was working against the proposal submission deadlines and she even worked very late in the evenings to fix my problems and submit my proposals," he said. "In my opinion, she has demonstrated excelling at her position at OSP and has definitely done far beyond the expectations of her current position.”
