Candidates for CU chancellor must be adept at pruning

University of Colorado at Boulder chancellor G.P. 'Bud' Peterson's departure to become president of Georgia Tech throws CU into a hunt for a leader who can weather budget woes.

Colorado's legislature funds 8.5 percent of CU-Boulder's $1.1 billion budget. The latest cuts imposed by Colorado lawmakers require slashing $8 million from CU-Boulder programs before July and another $6 million next year.
