August 9, 2012

Elementary schools in the Poudre School District are back in session Tuesday, August 21. The Colorado State University Youth Sport Camps After School Program has limited space (we maintain a teacher to student ratio of 5:1 or less), so now is the time to get your child registered.

Are your kids a bit restless after school? Do they need a little more activity in their day?

The Department of Health and Exercise Science wants to help - bring them to the CSU Youth Sport Camps After School Program!  As childhood obesity rates continue to soar nationwide, we are doing our role to keep kids active.

Active and healthy programming

Based on the philosophy and activities of our popular FunLIFE (Learning to Improve Fitness and Eating) camps, our after school program features active and healthy programming focusing on physical activity, fitness development, and healthy nutrition.

Class size limited to 15 children per day

The program is offered on a very limited-space basis to the families of CSU faculty, staff, and students as well as Fort Collins community members. For more effective interaction between staff and children, there is a limit of 15 children per day.  Activities include sport activities, yoga, swimming and hiking, and healthy snacks will be provided daily. Hometime work and tutoring is also included for those children who need it.

Excellent teaching/coaching

The staff includes graduate and undergraduate students in Health and Exercise Science who have been selected for their knowledge, appreciation for healthy lifestyles, and love of working with children.

The instructors apply excellent teaching and coaching principles that emphasize fun, success, and a healthy approach to lifetime activity for each child. We maintain a student-to-teacher ratio of 5:1 or less to ensure quality of instruction and camper experience.

Transportation

Transportation is provided from:

  • Dunn
  • Bennett
