Wargin, speech communications, '92, a sports anchor for KUSA 9News in Denver, had a tall order to fill.

Wargin found herself up against some of the most talented and entertaining individuals in the game of basketball, the Harlem Globetrotters on Saturday, April 4.

The "magicians of basketball"

Wargin wore green and gold just like her days in the crowd cheering on the Rams, but playing with The Generals.

"I only went in for one play, that's how they do it with the celebrities as I found out. I got fouled and missed both my free throws."

The Globetrotters gave her a hard time during her free throws and afterwards, "I didn't really think I was done when their big man told me to sit down. So I got back up and ran after him because he was my man to guard. He then picked me up like a rag doll and brought me to my seat."

Wargin said, "I'd do it again in a heartbeat even though I only played for a few minutes. I got to do pregame and halftime warm ups and my kids were thrilled to see me out there."

Advice for aspiring journalists

Wargin worked in radio, first as a "button pusher" or switchboard operator before working her way onto the airwaves and eventually into television. She has advice for anyone hoping to go into the field of journalism.

"Learn as much as you can in every avenue that you can. The most marketable journalist now is a one-man/woman-band journalist. If you can shoot, edit, write and front a story, you are set! I don't just anchor, I also report, edit and write for the web - we all wear many, many hats," Wargin said.

Why I love CSU

A proud Ram alumna, Wargin had much to say about why she loves Colorado State University, "CSU is a phenomenal community to be a part of. I love Fort Collins and everything about the school. I had such an amazing experience and continue to stay in touch with people I either went to school with or have the same passion for CSU. When you say you're a Ram, there's just an understanding and bond that goes with it; it's hard to explain!"
