Mason Street closed from Laurel to University

August 9, 2013

Mason Street will be closed from Laurel Street to University Avenue on Thursday, Aug. 15-Thursday, Aug. 22.

Because of the street closure, parking lots #325 and 335 also will be closed because they cannot be accessed by other streets. Lot #330 can be accessed only from Old Main coming from College Avenue. The bike tunnel near the university's heating plant also will be closed.

The closure is to accomodate the repaving of Mason Street as part of the city's MAX Bus Rapid Transit system project.

The MAX Bus Rapid Transit system is a city project along Mason Street. The Mason Corridor project consists of the Mason Trail, economic redevelopment in the heart of Fort Collins and MAX bus rapid transit service. MAX will link major destinations and activity centers along the Mason Corridor including downtown, Colorado State University, Foothills Mall, and South College retail areas. MAX will operate nearly twice as fast as auto travel along College Avenue, and provide high frequency service every 10 minutes. Future regional transit connections will link to MAX at the new South Transit Center.
