Equipment Operator I
Facilities Management ISW
Denver was nominated by Sheela Backen of the Department of Facilities Management ISW for an Everyday Hero Award.
Denver has been working at Facilities Management ISW for over a year. He grew up in Fort Collins and has spent his life in and around campus. He applied at CSU at the encouragement of his family.
Sheela Backen nominated Denver for an Everyday Hero Award because he took the time to check on someone that many others had passed by. Sheela describes the event: “Denver was on his way to Rigden and decided to travel down Pitkin to Lemay. He noticed a man laying in the bushes and stopped to make sure he was OK. Denver found the man in distress, called 911 and performed CPR on him until the ambulance arrived.”
Denver explained that he takes different routes to Rigden and the fact that he was on that road at that time was very fortunate. Sheela continues by saying, “Not very many people would have stopped to help someone that looked like a possible homeless person. I am very proud that Denver works in my section.”
When Denver is not working he enjoys going to car shows and helping his friends work on their cars. Denver also enjoys spending time with his kids. His plans for the future include continuing to work in his department and to grow within his job. Denver also looks forward to seeing his family prosper.
When asked what he wanted fellow employees to know about himself, Denver said that if they ever need a hand, he'll surely be there to lend it.
Denver said he feels good to be nominated for the Everyday Hero Award, and when the next situation comes up to help, he'll be there because he knows it can make a difference.
Do you have a colleague who deserves recognition, a co-worker who makes the workplace better or someone who just “made your day?”
Everyday Hero is a special recognition program sponsored by the Classified Personnel Council for recognizing outstanding employees within the CSU community.
All Colorado State University state classified staff, administrative professionals, and faculty members are eligible to receive the award.
