Carl Kichinko is proud of the 20 years he has been with Colorado State University as a communications coordinator for Communications and Creative Services. He began in 1990, working daily with the faculty and staff who run the university, making it more than just "a classroom or lab, the Oval, the student center, or a residence hall."
This is exemplified through the president’s Fall Address each year, where people understand that, “the university is the people who work here, and the learning and discovery that happens here,” Kichinko said in an e-mail interview.
Learning and discovery do not just end with an individual’s experience at the university however. Kichinko said, “Although some may see commencement as an ending, it is really the start of the university’s positive influence on our world.”
Kichinko is very involved in this process; enjoying immensely the development of professional relationships and the projects he has helped design that “maximize the effectiveness of their (customers’) communications.”
Even though he has more favorite memories at CSU than he can count, he said that:
“Most (favorites) have been projects that ultimately exceeded my customers’ expectations, either because we were able to accomplish something on a very short timeline, or because we overcame challenges that might have caused us to ‘settle’ for less and were able to achieve more than we originally hoped for.”
Celebrate CSU Milestones! will take place on May 6 in the Lory Student Center Main Ballroom, beginning at 3 p.m. The event is part of Celebrate Colorado State!, a month-long celebration in April to recognize the achievements of the campus community over the past year.
