K-12 enrichment program set for Oct. 5

Colorado State University has partnered with B.A.S.E. Camp to host I.N.T.E.L.A.C., or It's Never Too Early to Learn About College.

I.N.T.E.L.A.C., an event designed to help break down barriers to college enrollment for K – 12 students, is set for 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, at Johnson Hall on the CSU campus.

CSU organizations involved include the CSU Access Center, CSU Career Center, Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement office and the Interfraternity Council.

B.A.S.E., or Before and After School Enrichment, Camp also is partnering with the Poudre School District, and OtterCares Foundation, which is an early sponsor of the event.

Registration

Registration is $5 for all middle and high school students. Carnival tickets will be 50 cents each for elementary school students. All proceeds support B.A.S.E. Camp’s Before and After School programs in Larimer County. 

Event full of activities

The event includes a campus-wide treasure hunt for middle and high school students, a carnival type event with more than 20 booths for elementary school students and a career and college hunt for all participants, including parents. Possible careers, college savings programs, scholarship information, financial aid information and more will be a part of the treasure hunt. Low cost food and beverages will be available, along with entertainment, giveaways and prizes for those who complete the treasure hunt.

B.A.S.E. Camp

B.A.S.E. Camp offers out-of-school programs, including the Before and After School program, which is located on site at 30 Fort Collins and Loveland schools for children in kindergarten to fifth grade.

B.A.S.E. Camp also provides a preschool program at three schools in outlying areas, and a summer camp program for kindergarten through seventh grade students. The programs are designed to provide enrichment through educational, artistic and physical activities that lead to improved academic performance as well as improved social, communication, leadership, physical skills and self-confidence.
