Join the Pre-Vet Club for their last general meeting Wednesday, April 11, in Yates 104 at 6 p.m. for a drug detection dog demonstration.
The Pre-Vet Club will host the Alliance K-9 of Northern Colorado. They will present a demonstration of how they inspect an area for narcotics and other drugs.
Detection dogs are used to identify a wide variety of possible objects without destroying evidence. Because dogs like a German Shepherd have about 225 million scent receptors compared to a human’s 5 million scent receptors, they can pick up even the most minute differences in smell. There are many different specialty areas of detection, from human remains and explosives to narcotics and even mold!
We are looking for a new Pre-Vet Club shirt design for the 2012-2013 year. Anyone can submit a design and quote to be featured on next year’s shirt. One lucky designer will not only have their art on our official club shirts, but will receive a free shirt and a free year of membership. All submissions are due at the end of the meeting.
All are welcome to come! For more information, contact Chloe Goodwin.
