Participants needed for a research study

The CSU Department of Health and Exercise Science is looking for participants, age 55-75, for a study about how to maintain muscle with age.

Participants needed for a study involving exercise, nutrition and aging

Participants needed for a research study involving exercise, nutrition and aging.  Seeking:

  • Healthy, non-smoking males and females
  • 55-75 years of age

The study is about how to maintain muscle with age.

Six-day inpatient stay

Participants will complete heart and blood screening prior to being included in the study.  Initial screening and testing will take place at the Dept. of Health and Exercise Science, Colorado State University.

Study participation will involve 7 days of a controlled diet followed by a 6-day inpatient stay at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center.

Study requirements

While at the Health Science Center participants will be provided a controlled diet and be asked to exercise each day. Participants must be lactose tolerant to participate since milk products will be consumed.

Completion of the study will lead to information on how to prevent decreases in muscle mass and function in older individuals.  Subject recruitment will begin on April 15, 2010 and end on October 15, 2010.
