Dennis Child, professor of range science, died May 8

May 12, 2010

One of the Warner College of Natural Resources most treasured faculty, Dennis Child, passed away suddenly on Saturday evening, May 8.

Professor and alumnus

Dennis was a role model for all of us in so many ways, both professionally and personally. He was a beloved teacher, excellent scientist, and leader throughout the national and global range community. Dennis also was a leader for our College and a very proud alumnus.

Dennis received his Ph.D. in Range Science from CSU in 1975 and he returned to CSU in 1995 as professor and head, Department of Rangeland Ecosystem Science. He also served as associate dean for the Warner College of Natural Resources.

Dennis will always be remembered for his exceptional kindness, his willingness always to listen and to help others, his love of students, and the lasting contributions he made to natural resources during his career.

Services will be held 4 p.m. Thursday, May 13 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 600 E. Swallow Road, Fort Collins, Colo.

A guestbook for Dennis has been created by the College if you would like to share your condolences and memories. The link to the guestbook is warnercnr.colostate.edu/in-rememberance-of-dennis-child. All comments will be forwarded to his family.
