Call for applications from student entrepreneurs

March 3, 2010

The Center for the Advancement of Sustainable Enterprise at CSU will house the New Economy Venture Accelerator. This will provide certain student ventures with assistance.

NEVA calls for applications from student entrepreneurs

The CSU Center for the Advancement of Sustainable Enterprise, or CASE, will house the New Economy Venture Accelerator, or NEVA, which will provide selected student ventures with:

  • workspace
  • mentoring
  • technical assistance
  • professional network
  • financial support to help budding entrepreneurs advance their startups

In addition to these basic support services, NEVA will also create an investment fund for the purpose of capitalizing these enterprises.

Links to key partnerships, investment funds

NEVA will form an intuitive link between the university and key partnerships with investor and entrepreneurship organizations. The mission of NEVA would thus be to provide the resources needed to help admitted student ventures become successful businesses and non-profit organizations. The main objectives of NEVA are:

  • Engage experienced professionals/entrepreneurs as Entrepreneurs in Residence (ER) to provide onsite mentoring to NEVA entrepreneurs
  • Develop and manage a core network of organizations and professionals that can be leveraged to help advance incubated ventures
  • Provide dedicated space and resources needed for NEVA entrepreneurs to effectively advance their ventures

NEVA will be sustained long-term by revenues generated from CASE, and longer-term by taking small equity interests in the student start-ups it supports.

If you are involved in a startup and would like to be a part of NEVA, please e-mail Zubaida Bai for a copy of the application form/queries. The deadline for submission of applications is March 20.
