Softball picked to finish fifth in preseason poll

The Mountain West Conference released its softball preseason poll Wednesday, placing Colorado State in the fifth spot. The 2008 regular-season champion, San Diego State, along with BYU tied the top spot with three first-place votes apiece. UNLV sits in third place, followed by Utah, Colorado State and New Mexico.

Seven starter return for the Rams

The Rams return seven starters including three all-conference selections from 2008. Allison Majam, Ashley Munoz and Rebecca Penland as well as seven freshmen look to build on the success from last season.

CSU vs. New Mexico, Feb. 5

Colorado State heads to New Mexico State, Thursday Feb. 5, to face the Aggies at 6 p.m. The Rams will remain in Las Cruces, N.M. for the weekend to play in the Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces Classic. The first conference game is set for Thursday, April 2, when Colorado State will face BYU at Ram Field at 3 p.m.
