Welcome the season by attending one of the popular holiday concerts hosted by the School of the Arts. Presented in the Griffin Concert Hall with its extraordinary acoustics, the Holiday Gala concerts are what everyone waits for all year long.
The annual Holiday Gala concert will be held on December 1, 2, and 3 at 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday, December 4 at 2 p.m.
Each concert will be held in Griffin Concert Hall, University Center for the Arts,1400 Remington St. Meet the Artist Receptions will be held after each concert.
Each performance features numerous instrumental and choral ensembles performing a charming concert of both traditional secular and sacred holiday music, including a grand finale.
The event also features an emcee leading the audience in carol sing-a-longs and a post-concert reception.
The delightful and varied program includes instrumental performances of O Magnum Mysterium, Joy to the World and You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch; choral performances of traditional carols such as Tomorrow shall be my dancing day and Deck the Halls as well as thematic works; an orchestral performance of Angel’s Dance by Steven Amundson; a swinging jazz medley; and the piece everyone expects to hear, The Hallelujah Chorus from Handel’s Messiah.
The line-up for Thursday and Saturday’s program: University Symphony Orchestra, Concert Choir, University Chorus, Women’s Chorus, CSU Faculty Brass Quintet and the combined choirs.
The line-up for Friday and Sunday’s program: University Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Choir, Women’s Chorus, Jazz Combos, CSU Horn Choir and the combined choirs.
