Parking Services implements LEED parking program

September 23, 2010

CSU Parking Services has installed signage in several lots around campus reserving certain "premium" parking spaces for vehicles displaying the new CSU LEED permit.

Qualifying vehicles are eligible

In conjunction with Colorado State University's ongoing green initiatives, many recent building projects were designed and built with a goal of obtaining Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, or LEED, certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Part of this certification includes designating a number of parking spaces near the projects as reserved for LEED Qualifying Vehicles.

Program details

Beginning Monday, Sept. 27, to park in a LEED designated space you must:

  • Own a vehicle that qualifies as a LEED low-emission vehicle (a list is available at www.greenercars.org or for direct download here).
  • Obtain a CSU LEED permit by bringing your LEED Qualifying Vehicle and vehicle registration to the Parking Services office in the southwest corner of the Lake Street Garage. The LEED permit must then be affixed on the inside of the vehicle's windshield on the lower corner of the passenger's side.  There is no charge for the LEED permit.
  • Have a current CSU parking permit valid for either 'A', 'Q', or 'Z' lots.

Vehicles occupying a LEED space and not displaying a CSU LEED permit will be cited for parking without the required permit, a $30 offense.

Additional restrictions may apply.  For a full list of requirements, please visit LEED Permitted Parking or contact Parking Services at (970) 491-7041.
