Evening with an Author Series continues on April 3

Novelist Derek Sherman brings "Race Across the Sky" to a free evening at the Hilton Fort Collins, 7-9 p.m., sponsored by Friends of CSU Libraries and the Poudre River Friends of the Library.

Derek Sherman, author of Race Across the Sky, will speak on Thursday, April 3, at a free author evening sponsored by Friends of CSU Libraries, the Poudre River Friends of the Library, City of Fort Collins Fort Fund, KUNC radio and Hilton Fort Collins.

Sherman will appear 7-9 p.m. at the Hilton Fort Collins, 425 W. Prospect Road. The event is free and open to the public – no tickets are required. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis. A book signing and sales will follow the program. Book sales by Old Firehouse Books in Fort Collins.

Race Across the Sky is the Chicago graphic artist’s first novel. Set in the fascinating worlds of ultramarathons and biotechnology, it tells the compelling story of how two brothers survive when they are pushed past all of their boundaries and risk everything they have for love.

Hannah Kent on April 16

The series continues on April 16 with Australian Hannah Kent, author of Burial Rites.

Based on the historical facts of the last woman in Iceland to be publicly beheaded in 1830, Burial Rites recreates the condemned woman’s last days and the mysterious circumstances that have led to her sentence for the brutal murder of two men.Hannah Kent, photo by Nicholas Purcell

Kent is the co-founder of the literary journal Kill Your Darlings, and is completing her Ph.D. at Flinders University.

All free authors’ evenings are held at the Hilton, 7-9 p.m.
