Do you speak French or are you interested in the French culture? Then take LFRE 335 and learn about the issues and backgroud of French culture. This class is three credits and is offered Tues./Thur. from 11:00 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. The prerequisite for this class is LFRE 300 or consent of Prof. Mary Vogl. This course, conducted entirely in French, will look at a variety of topics related to contemporary France. The topics include:

  • stereotypes
  • food
  • education
  • language
  • politics
  • economics
  • overseas territories
  • immigration
  • hip-hop, rap and raï
  • demonstrations and strikes
  • the European Union
  • the current debate on French national identity
  • France’s place in the world
