The Presidential Greek Vision Award aims to elevate the image and standing of the Colorado State Greek community and promote leadership and involvement on campus.
Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, the recipient of the 2008 Presidential Greek Vision Award, will host a CPR and first-aid training for the campus community during the month of April. The training, which is facilitated by the American Red Cross and normally costs $25, will be free of charge.
“I think this will be a great project. This is a skill that anyone might have to use someday,” said Mike Williams, President of Sigma Phi Epsilon, a chapter that has been at CSU since 1915.
The Presidential Greek Vision Award, started in 2007 by former president Larry Penley, awards a $5,000 grant to one fraternity and one sorority for use in a project to benefit the community.
“Sigma Phi Epsilon’s effort to provide first-aid and CPR training FOR 100 people is a great example of how our Greek students’ commitment to service can benefit the entire community,” said Interim President Tony Frank. “The Presidential Greek Vision Award is designed to build the chapter and quality of our Greek chapters by supporting their positive efforts at CSU. I congratulate Sigma Phi Epsilon for winning the fraternity award this and applaud their efforts to help better equip community members to react to emergency situations.”
In order to accommodate students and community members, five training sessions will be offered.
Due to space limitations, each session will be limited to the first 20 participants to sign up. Interested students, faculty members, or CSU staff can sign up in the Wellness Zone, located in Lory Student Center.
More information about the training session can be obtained by contacting Bijah Gibson, Vice President of Programming for Sigma Phi Epsilon at firstname.lastname@example.org.
