Student absence outreach, notification

January 22, 2014

Life happens and it doesn't always happen during academic breaks.

When students experience extenuating circumstances, like an illness, injury, death in the family, or other crisis, sometimes they have to miss class. The Student Case Management Office verifies circumstances, aids students with potential resources to help them reintegrate back to the CSU community, and works with the student with internal academic procedures. With verifiable documentation of circumstances beyond the student’s control, Case Management may request consideration of the student’s circumstances.

Beginning Jan. 21, 2014, all communication to faculty, advisors, and CSU supervisors regarding extended student absences of more than one day will be coordinated through the Student Case Management Office rather than the Center for Advising and Student Achievement (CASA).

If you have any questions about this process or need to relay information about a student absence, please contact Student Case Management online or by phone at (970) 491-8051. As always, this is a notification and not an "excused absence." Faculty and departmental policies supersede any request for consideration.
