What does your University student facility fee pay for?

May 2, 2011

Have you ever wondered what your University Student Facility Fees pay for? Have you ever asked yourself, who is paying for all the new buildings on campus? Well, you are.

Behavioral Science Building front entranceUniversity Student Facility Fee

The University Student Facility Fee is used to provide new academic facilities and/or to improve current academic facilities that directly benefit the students of Colorado State University. The mission of the University Facility Fee Advisory Board, made up of students appointed by College Councils, “…shall be to provide guidance and advice concerning the University Facility Fee to the Vice President of University Operations and/or their designee; to review all project proposals for allocations of the University Facility Fee; and to ensure that all allocations of the University Facility Fee will be used to provide new facilities and/or to improve current facilities that directly benefit the students of Colorado State University.”

Computer Science, Rockwell West Addition and Behavioral Sciences

Buildings such as Computer Science, Rockwell West Addition and Behavioral Sciences are just a few of the projects funded by your Student Facility Fee. Renovations to classrooms and study lounges have also been funded by your facility fee. The new Morgan Library renovation and Study Cube are another example of your facility fees at work. The Study Cube is planned to be a 24/7 glass study space that will allow students a safe and secure place to study and allow the outdoors to be brought in with by using glass walls. These are just a few of the projects that your University Student Facility Fee has funded.
