Recent changes in hiring administrative professionals and state classifieds: Know your options

May 2, 2012

Some CSU employees will soon have the option of moving from the state personnel system into the administrative professional category.

CSU's Department of Human Resources is providing information and guidance to help employees make informed decisions about which route to choose and how each option would affect them.

Transition from state classified to AP

Recent legislation provides Colorado institutions of Higher Education the ability to move certain state-classified positions out of the State Personnel system and into the CSU administrative professional (AP) category. While actual position transitions will not begin until Jan. 1 and will be ongoing thereafter, HR is providing the list of eligible classifications now so that they may address any questions or concerns.

If in an eligible class, the decision to transfer or not is at the employee's discretion. Future vacant positions in the listed classes will only be hired as APs.

More information regarding how to apply for a transfer to the AP category will be available in late summer.
