The public is invited to a reception honoring Mark Fiege and SueEllen Campbell, two renowned Colorado State University professors, authors and affiliates of Public Lands History Center (PLHC) at CSU.

This event will be in the School of Global Environmental Sustainability, Room 108 in Johnson Hall Tuesday, April 30, 4:30-6:30 p.m., and will include refreshments. Live readings by the authors will begin at 5 p.m., and both will have copies of their books available for

Fiege, Associate Professor of History and director of the Public Lands History Center, is author of The Republic of Nature (2012). Fiege’s book reframes American history based on the simple but radical premise that nothing in the nation’s past can be considered apart from the natural circumstances in which it occurred.

Campbell, Professor of English and facility affiliate at the Public Lands History Center, is the author The Face of the Earth (2011). Campbell’s book explores how humans have made sense of our planet’s marvelous landscapes and investigates how we live with the great shaping forces of nature – from fire to changing climates and the intricacies of adaptation.

This event is co-sponsored by PLHC, in the College of Liberal Arts. The Center fosters the production of historical knowledge through the collaborative engagement with institutions responsible for the sustainable stewardship of protected areas, water and other critical resources.
