LeaderShape 2013: Engaging passionate leaders

April 5, 2013

What makes a leader? You've probably been asked this question at least a dozen times in the course of your life, if not more.

Leadership incorporates many concepts, and being able to name any one of them is easy. Practicing leadership with integrity and depth is difficult. It's extremely difficult to encompass everything about leadership in one succinct answer and embody this thinking in everyday life. LeaderShape is a program designed to help students understand all the dimensions of this question and help apply it toward their own personal vision

Connecting students, challenging ideas, creating memories

Students will challenge their ideas on a variety of subjects, learn the value in individual and collective action, and explore the idea of leadership.

LeaderShape is a unique experience that brings together a group of people who are passionate about solving today's problems.

LeaderShape can provide students with information, context, and experience, but what every person takes out of the retreat is different.

The retreat takes place during the first week of summer at CSU's Pingree Park mountain campus.

Although there is serious thinking and hard work taking place, LeaderShape is also a lot of fun!

Challenging ideas, solving today's problems

LeaderShape is a week-long retreat, hosted annually by the Student Leadership, Involvement & Community Engagement office and the LeaderShape Institute. At LeaderShape, participants will challenge their ideas on a variety of subjects, learn the value in individual and collective action, and explore the idea of leadership. Students also will have the opportunity to make long-lasting friends and increase their impact and involvement on CSU's campus. Although there is serious thinking and hard work taking place, LeaderShape is also a lot of fun!

LeaderShape is the unique sort of experience that one doesn't encounter very often in life: the opportunity to be secluded, away from the inane problems of everyday life, with a group of people that are passionate about solving the problems facing today's world. These are the sort of situations individuals are lucky to find themselves in for very few times in their life.  SLiCE is excited to offer this opportunity for the students of CSU.

Take the journey

Applications to attend this retreat are due April 10, 2013, and can be found online. The retreat itself takes place during the first week of summer, May 20-25, at CSU's Pingree Park mountain campus, nestled in our beautiful Rocky Mountains. This program is established for fee-paying students; therefore, transportation, food, and lodging is covered for those students.

LeaderShape can provide students with information, context, and experience, but what every person takes out of the six-day LeaderShape retreat is different. We can't assume that LeaderShape will change your life, or that you will suddenly become inspired, or that you will find your new best friend there. You might. Those things have happened in years before, but LeaderShape is a journey into the self. We can't tell you what you will find. But we can tell you that it's a journey worth taking.
