Spring 2010 Lilla B. Morgan grants to support arts, culture at CSU

The Lilla B. Morgan Endowment Committee at Colorado State University has announced its grant awards for spring 2010. The Lilla B. Morgan Memorial Fund was created by the family and friends of CSU's late President Emeritus William Morgan and his wife, Lilla, to help foster a vibrant, rich, and evolving environment for the arts and cultural expression at Colorado State University.

Arts and cultural expression

The Lilla B. Morgan Endowment Committee at Colorado State University has announced its grant awards for spring 2010:

  • $1,715 to the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, College of Liberal Arts, for the 2010 Fifth Annual Gateway to Asia event, taking place April 30 and May 1, 2010, on campus.
  • $4,000 to the Department of Art, College of Liberal Arts, for the national juried exhibition, “Drawing in the Expanded Field,” opening in the Clara Hatton Gallery October 2010.
  • $3,000 to the Philosophy Department, College of Liberal Arts, in partnership with the Geller Center for Spiritual Development, to support a Zikr Sacred Dance Ensemble Performance on May 4, 2010.
  • $2,600 to the Department of Art, College of Liberal Arts, for “Caravanserai: Carpets, Canvas, Calligraphy, Crafts from the Middle East and North Africa,” an exhibit in the Clara Hatton Gallery and series of lectures running September 3-30, 2010.
  • $2,500 to The Avenir Museum of Design and Merchandising, College of Applied Human Sciences, for “Mr. Blackwell: A Retrospective,” opening in October 2010 and running through April 2011.

In memory of William and Lilla Morgan

The Lilla B. Morgan Memorial Fund was created by the family and friends of CSU’s late President Emeritus William Morgan and his wife, Lilla, to help foster a vibrant, rich, and evolving environment for the arts and cultural expression at Colorado State University.

The fund provides grants to support projects in art, music, humanities, literature, and the performing arts, including but not limited to:

  • visiting/guest lecturers and artists
  • purchase of art, rare books, or landscaping
  • exhibits and performances
  • scholarships and awards
  • or any use that would showcase the breadth of human cultural endeavor and enhance the cultural awareness of the Colorado State University community

Application deadlines April 1 and Sept. 15

Funds are available during two awards cycles each year, with the application deadlines of April 1 and Sept. 15. Applications are evaluated on the significance of the project and its impact on the campus community. Projects/programs of a major impact, smaller projects, and multi-year projects may all be considered for funding. All proposals will also be reviewed for demonstrated responsibility and thoughtfulness in project planning, budget development, and potential for successful implementation.

All university departments are welcome and encouraged to apply for grant funding.
