Immunity packets available at the Wellness Zone

Lack of sleep, exercise, and too much stress can lower your immune system. Want to give your system a boost? The Wellness Zone is providing free Emergen-C packs between Monday, Feb. 2 and Friday, Feb. 6 in the Lory Student Center.

Staying healthy

Free tea, Energen-C and cold packs will be available at the Wellness Zone between Monday, Feb. 2 and Friday, Feb. 6 from 9 a.m. to 4. p.m.  Stop by anytime. 

The Zone provides information and services for nutrition, stress management screenings, health assessments, and more. Stop in or call (970) 491-2634.

Mighty vitamin C

How does vitamin C boost your immune system? It increases the production of infection-fighting white blood cells and antibodies and increases levels of interferon, the antibody that coats cell surfaces, preventing the entry of viruses.

There has been more research about the immune-boosting effects of Vitamin C than perhaps any other nutrient. .

You don't have to take in massive amounts of vitamin C to boost your immune system. Around 200 milligrams a day seems to be a generally agreed-upon amount and one that can be automatically obtained by eating at least six servings of fruits and vegetables a day.
