Diversity Conference 2010 Call for Proposals

April 28, 2010

This year's diversity conference, 'Diversity in the 21st Century: What the Recession Revealed,' is designed to offer the opportunity to engage in those sometimes difficult discussions about diversity so that we can begin to recognize how our own biases may inhibit progress toward our shared goals and develop strategies to reduce their impact.

10th Annual Diversity Conference
“Diversity in the 21st Century: What the Recession Revealed”
Sept. 21-23, 2010

Prosperity can reduce the visibility of society’s enduring challenges; economic adversity can bring them into sharper relief. How can insights into our separate and shared experiences during the deepest economic downturn since the Great Depression contribute to our understanding of Diversity in the 21st Century?

This year’s diversity conference, “Diversity in the 21st Century: What the Recession Revealed” is designed to offer the opportunity to engage in those sometimes difficult discussions about diversity so that we can begin to recognize how our own biases may inhibit progress toward our shared goals and develop strategies to reduce their impact.

Session guidelines

  • Creativity is important in presentation style, format and title. Consider that participants will have a wide variety of learning styles. Highly participatory sessions are generally better received.
  • Attendees at the conference will consist of traditional and non-traditional age college students, community members, faculty, and staff. Please be sure to designate your target audience.
  • Priority consideration will be given to proposals that address the Conference focus as it relates to ability, age, GLBT (gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender), gender, national origin, race/ethnicity, religion, veterans, and socio-economic status.

Presenters, remember to include time for discussion when planning your workshop session.
