Annual Clery Report Released by Colorado State University Police Department

September 20, 2011

Colorado State University Police Chief Wendy Rich-Goldschmidt shares an open letter with students and employees regarding the Clery report:

Colorado State University Police Department shieldDear students and employees:

As many of you may know, the Colorado State University Police Department is responsible for releasing campus crime statistics to the University community.

The 2010 campus crime statistics, Fire and Safety Update, and University Drug and Alcohol Policy can be found in the Safety On Campus 2011 Update. This update is distributed in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security and Campus Crime Statistics Act. The act requires colleges and universities to disclose information on security policies and timely, annual information about crime on and around campus.

The document informs the University community about important procedures, policies, crime prevention programs and campus crime statistics. This report includes statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes that occurred on-campus, in certain off-campus buildings or on property owned or controlled by Colorado State University. A downloadable version of the 2011 Safety on Campus Update, including the 2010 campus crime statistics, is available at http://police.colostate.edu/pdfs/2011-Safety-Report.pdf.

A paper copy of the Safety on Campus 2011 pamphlet is available at the Colorado State University Police Department, located in Green Hall, or the Lory Student Center Bookstore. A link to the report also is available, along with other campus health and safety information, at www.safety.colostate.edu.

The CSU Police Department also is required to notify the University community about public information regarding registered sex offenders, as required by Megan's Law. A current listing of sex offenders in the state and in the Fort Collins area is available at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation website at http://sor.state.co.us/.

For more information on campus crime statistics, contact the CSU Police Department at 970-491-6425. For more information about general health and safety on campus, visit www.safety.colostate.edu.

Thank you,

Chief Wendy Rich-Goldschmidt
