State employee charitable giving campaign needs you

December 22, 2009

If you make a pledge to the Colorado Combined Campaign before Dec. 31, you can use it as a deduction on your 2009 income taxes. Each year, the Campaign is the only instance of Colorado state employees being contacted through their workplace and invited to join in charitable giving.

Campaign sole request for charitable giving

If you make a pledge to the Colorado Combined Campaign before Dec. 31, you can use it as a deduction on your 2009 income taxes.

Each year, the Campaign is the only instance of Colorado state employees being contacted through their workplace and invited to join in charitable giving.

Several ways to donate

In this current economic climate, there is no shortage of need and certainly no shortage in requests for help.

Through the Colorado Combined Campaign, CSU employees can donate through payroll deductions, credit card, or by one-time check or cash donations.

750 charitable organizations

The Colorado Combined Campaign includes more than 750 charitable organizations across Colorado, many right here in northern Colorado.

Things your dollars can do:

  • $2 conserves one acre of threatened ecosystem
  • $2 provides food for a hungry child to eat over the weekend
  • $4 will pay for a new athletic uniform for one Special Olympics athlete
  • $5 buys a board book for parents to read with their children
  • $8 puts a college volunteer to work saving wildlife in Alaska's Denali National Park
  • $10 provides mammograms for two indigent women
  • $15 provides a follow up examination for a sick cat at the Cat Care Society's The Cat Clinic

Contributions to date a reflection of tough economic times

This letter [PDF] from the Harmony Foundation is an example of how your contributions help people in Colorado in need.

Contributions from CSU employees are currently down 20 percent from where they were at this point last year, a reflection of how difficult this current economic recession has been for people across the economic spectrum.

Donate throughout the year

We will be accepting donations throughout the year.

Giving incentives

Every CCC donor is eligible to win a $500 gas certificate or one of thirty $50 gas certificates donated by SunCor Energy. As soon as you make a pledge, you will be eligible for prize drawings. The prizes are items donated by the campus community and local businesses to encourage participation.

This year, the campus will also be participating in a raffle to win a two-year lease on a 2010 Subaru Forester donated by Dellenbach Motors. To qualify for the car raffle, you simply choose any of the United Way of Larimer County agencies and pledge at least $156.
