Livestock-Climate Change Collaborative Research Support Program to show documentaries on Nov. 28

November 26, 2012

CSU's Livestock-Climate Change Collaborative Research Support Program in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences will host a showing of two documentary films from 7-10 p.m. Nov. 28 in the Behavioral Sciences building.

The event is free and open to the public. The showing will be held in Room 131.

The LCC CRSP funded and supported the two short documentary films that illustrate how climate change and its effect on the land and the people can be felt across the world.

The films explore the challenges pastoralists in East Africa face as they try to adapt to their changing climate.

One of these films, “Maasai Voices on Climate Change (and other changes, too)” was entirely created by a group of young Maasai, Kenya pastoralists. Known as Participatory Video, the pastoralists learn how to use video equipment and then use those skills to tell their own story.

There will also be a sneak preview of the still-in-progress “Voices from the Dry Lands,” which shows that there is more than climate change at play in the Kenyan rangelands. Film creators, Joana Roque de Pinho, Lindsay Simpson and Nic Tapia, will welcome feedback after the showing.
