The University Center for the Arts brings percussionist and composer Payton MacDonald to Colorado State to perform Super Marimba! "Grooves Magazine" writes this about Payton MacDonald's performances: "MacDonald grows eight arms and concocts cats' cradle melodies that seem to be performed by two musicians and offers something new every time. Superhuman."
The University Center for the Art's Virtuoso Series presents Super Marimba! Guest Artist Payton MacDonald on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in Griffin Concert Hall, University Center for the Arts.
Composer, performer, and teacher Payton MacDonald performs his original music, Super Marimba!, using looping machines and delay pedals.
He has been described as an "energetic soloist" by The New York Times and ". . . engaging and utterly beautiful,” by Sequenza 21. A recipient of many grants and awards, he has been the featured performer at several festivals; numerous ensembles have performed his music in the U.S., Japan, Canada, and Europe.
Tickets are $5 for CSU students, $15 for the public. Purchase tickets.
All Virtuoso Series concerts are followed by Meet the Artist receptions where you hav the opportunity to mingle with other patrons and meet the musicians while enjoying dessert breads, coffee, and tea provided by our sponsors, Great Harvest Bread Co., Mugs Coffee Lounge, and Whole Foods Market.
