The Colorado State Theatre Department's cast and director of The Distance From Here, written by Neil LaBute and directed by program director Walton Jones, have been invited to compete for regional excellence and the opportunity to perform at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.
The Theatre Department will perform a showcase of The Distance From Here in preparation for the competition, and local audiences can attend.
The production was performed this past fall semester and is an intense look at the dark side of American suburbia - a suburban wasteland of white trash in the Northwest that follows the mundane, incestuous, murderous life of an emotionally impoverished family.
“We are competing for the prestigious opportunity for our students to compete at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C.,” remarks Nathan “Cory” Seymour, technical director and adjunct for CSU Theatre.
