Kinsey Holloway of Housing and Dining Services Apartment Life nominated Raul as an Everyday Hero.

"Raul has a kind presence in the Aggie Village office. Raul is often times interacting with staff and aggie residents who pass through. Raul seeks to be further involved and engaged in departmental functions and does so without being asked. When Raul assists residents, he is helpful and professional in this work. Raul is an Everyday Hero because he makes Aggie Village that much better for the rest of us!

Always has a smile on his face

"From the moment I met with Raul, he had a smile on his face. Raul moved to Fort Collins from Missouri about three years ago. He was in a serious car accident two years ago and has been recovering from a brain injury, neck injury and injury to his shoulders. Raul loves working with his horses. He has an Appaloosa and Quarter horse. He has discovered the natural way of horse training and is practicing on his horses hoping to become better."

Great place to work

Serrano-Rufino was very pleased to have a position with Colorado State University. “I’m very happy to be here. This is a great place to work.” His plans for the future include giving the job 100 percent and keeping up with the needs of Aggie Village.

When asked how he felt about being nominated an Everyday Hero, Serrano-Rufino said “It is very nice. I did not expect it. Making others happy makes me happy. It is nice when it is shown they appreciate what you are doing in your job.”
