CSU volleyball hosts powerful Wisconsin

September 3, 2014

Wear your white and head to Moby Arena at 7 p.m. Saturday to watch the No. 13 CSU volleyball team take on No. 4 Wisconsin.

White-clad fans stormed the court in 2012 after the CSU volleyball team beat No. 5 Nebraska in the annual The annual “White Out” game offers the Rams – off to a 4-0 start following a Wednesday night win over rival Northern Colorado – a rare opportunity to notch a victory over a top-5 team. The Rams have just three wins over top-5 teams in Moby in program history, including a 3-2 win over No. 5 Nebraska in 2012 during a “White Out.”

Big week

The Rams open the weekend by hosting Florida A&M at 7 p.m. Friday. That match, the match at UNC and the “White Out” are all part of the Northern Colorado/Colorado State Classic.

Following the Florida A&M match, all eyes will be on Wisconsin, which was the runner-up at the 2013 NCAA Tournament. The Badgers, who return six of seven starters from last year’s team, are off to a 2-0 start this season.

Fast start

CSU, which has played in 19 consecutive NCAA Tournaments, opened the season by going 3-0 in the Rams Volleyball Classic, posting 3-0 wins over Virginia Commonwealth, UC-Santa Barbara and Marquette. The Rams return six of seven starters from last year’s 28-2 team, including all-Mountain West selections Deedra Foss (setter), Adrianna Culbert (opposite hitter) and Kelsey Snider (middle blocker).

Commitment to Campus

Tickets are available online, at the McGraw Athletic Center ticket office or by calling (970) 491-7267. This is the “Commitment to Campus” game – CSU faculty and staff get two-for-one tickets.

Party for students

For students, Wells Fargo is sponsoring a “Welcome Back BBQ” on the lawn outside Moby Arena. The event begins at 4:40 p.m., with free pizza and Coke products for the first 500 students. There will also be drawings for prizes for students during the game.

Finally, the first 1,500 fans will receive a free commemorative “White Out” poster.
