Student staff for Today @ Colorado State

September 9, 2009

Hey students, want to be in the know about all things CSU? Rebecca and Ro are here to help keep you informed. Meet your new student content coordinators and writers for Today @ Colorado State.

Rebecca Howard

My name is Rebecca and I am a senior majoring in Journalism and Technical Communication at CSU. I'm set to graduate this spring, which is both exciting and terrifying at the same time.

I am a Colorado native. I grew up in Englewood, a suburb of Denver. I loved living near Denver, but I've been more than happy to make Fort Collins my home while attending school.

I'm most definitely proud to be a CSU Ram. My time here has been amazing so far. I have been involved in Student Media since my freshman year. I worked at the Rocky Mountain Collegian for one year, and I currently work as the features editor for College Avenue magazine. My involvement with Student Media has allowed me to do what I love most - write. It also has helped me connect with CSU and the Fort Collins community.

Outside of school, I love spending time with friends, taking pictures, and having fun in general. I love music. My absolute favorite bands are the Beatles and Death Cab for Cutie. I also enjoy the local music scene. Some of my favorite local acts include Born in the Flood, Meese, and The Heyday. I also dabble in playing music a little. I play guitar and I recently bought a ukulele. However, I’m by no means a talented musician. I play purely for fun.

As a student writer for Today @ Colorado State, I’m here to serve you. If you have any questions, concerns, suggestions or ideas, feel free to contact me.

Rommel McClaney

My name is Rommel, but most people call me Ro. I’m a freshman Psychology major and I live on campus in Allison hall. I was born in Birmingham, Alabama but I'm from Fruita, Colo., and graduated from Fruita Monument High School this past May.

My first few weeks in the town of Fort Collins and at CSU have been amazing! I'm proud to be a CSU Ram! From hanging in the hallways with my other hall mates, to meeting new people, attending RamPlay and playing soccer and ultimate Frisbee on the IM fields, it has been a very fun start to my college experience. I play on the CSU men’s soccer team and I am part of Allison's hall council. My goal as a writer here at Today@Colorado State is to do the “101 things to do before you leave CSU.” I'm going to start a blog about my journey to do all 101 things, so look for it in the next couple weeks on the Student Life page.

I enjoy hanging out with my friends, playing sports outside, and eating whenever possible. I am a diehard MLS fan, so whenever the Colorado Rapids are on, I’m somewhere watching. Music is the greatest thing ever invented. I’m a person who can switch from Sick Puppies, a very good rock band, to Darius Rucker, an awesome country singer, to Kanye West, a hip hop and rap legend.

I look forward to bringing a freshman perspective to Today @ Colorado State as I begin my journey. If you have any comments, questions or just want to say hi, it would be awesome to hear from you!
