Citizen's Police Academy applications close Jan. 25

The Colorado State University Police Department, the Division of Student Affairs and the CSU Bookstore will kick-off the seventh annual Citizen's Police Academy Thursday, Jan. 31.

CSUPD carThe CSU Police Department encourages the CSU community to take part in this unique experience. This academy does not require any previous knowledge of law enforcement or any special physical abilities.

The academy will conduct 12 classes and conclude with graduation on Thursday, April 25.  Classes will be held from 6-8 p.m. every Thursday, excluding Spring Break. Classes are held in the CSUPD Training Room at Green Hall and other locations. There will be one four-hour Saturday class so students can participate in police related scenarios using the department’s simulator.

Fifteen students and 12 employees will be admitted into the academy. Student applicants must have a 2.5 GPA. All applicants must be free of felony and misdemeanor convictions and must agree to a limited background investigation.
