Invitation to join the Classified Personnel Council

CSU state-classified employees: On behalf of the Vice President for University Operations and the Classified Personnel Council, or CPC, we welcome membership to CPC beginning in July 2011.

Join an exciting team

CPC is the representative body and voice for state-classified employees at Colorado State. CPC is seeking your participation and invites you to be part of an exciting team.

Employees interested in getting involved with issues at CSU may run for election to CPC.

Below are some of the activities conducted by CPC representatives:

  • Communicate employee feedback on various topics with CSU Administration.
  • Communicate with employees about issues affecting them in their jobs.
  • Serve as committee members on various scholarship, search and award committees.
  • Serve on University committees such as Parking Services, Physical Development, and Leave Sharing Bank.
  • Serve on the Faculty Council Committee on Strategic and Financial Planning.
  • Represent CSU on the Statewide Liaison committee.
  • Work to promote employee recognition through awards such as Everyday Hero Award, Outstanding Achievement Award and Positive Action Award.
  • Work to promote and award the CPC Educational Assistance Award.
Time frame

Serving on CPC may require up to 10 hours per month, of which most of the time will fall during the business day (8 a.m.-5 p.m.) which includes regular monthly meetings the second Tuesday of the month from 1-4 p.m. Employees are encouraged to consider their ability to balance a commitment to CPC with their regular work load.

Procedure for obtaining a petition to get on the ballot

Any certified employee who has worked as a state-classified employee for at least one year as of Feb. 1, 2011, is eligible to serve on the Council.

A petition form signed by 25 University state-classified employees, your immediate supervisor, and department head is necessary to get onto the ballot. Petitions may be picked up in the Office of the Vice President for University Operations, 309 Administration Building, or can be printed from the CPC website. You may call Linda Wardlow at (970) 491-5257 to request a ballot be mailed to you.

Deadline for completed petitions to be returned to the Vice President for University Operations office (309 Administration Building) is noon Friday, March 25, 2011.


All employees who file completed petitions will appear on the ballot.

Members can run for re-election. Four (4) terms are expiring this year and there are also two (2) open seats. The top six (6) candidates in the balloting will be appointed to three-year terms.

The next five (5) candidates will serve as alternates for a 1-year term.
