Stakeholder input gathered at campus forums

February 12, 2009

Soliciting stakeholder input with regard to the characteristics and responsibilities of a Chancellor for the Colorado State University System was the subject of five forum sessions hosted Tuesday by the Board of Governors of the Colorado State University System in the Grey Rock room of the Lory Student Center.

Former Board of Governors member Diane Evans partnered with Steven Portch, former chancellor of the University System of Georgia, to facilitate the discussions. Forums were held for staff, faculty, students, deans, community members, and alumni and athletics supporters.

"This is all about creating a job description for the Chancellor position," Evans said. "We are here to gather input, to listen."

Forums held in across the state

The Board of Governors has already held similar forums in Pueblo, Sterling and Denver, and reached out to other Colorado communities through video-conferencing. After holding a forum with state legislators, Evans will compile comments and recommendations into a report for the Board of Governors, to be submitted during the next board meeting in late February.

Evans said Tuesday that the Board of Governors has currently has no list of candidates for the Chancellor position. Ideally, the position will be filled by May or June, with the Chancellor taking office in July, she said.
