Multiracialism through photography

ASAP will host a lecture by author, artist, and teacher Kip Fulbeck at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26 in the Lory Student Center Main Ballroom.

Fulbeck is the author of the book "Part Asian, 100% Hapa." The book addresses issues of multiracialism through photography.

Part Asian 100% Hapa

For The Hapa Project, Fulbeck took portraits of people of mixed race from the shoulders up, and asked them to answer the question “What are you?” on the back of the photo. He then exhibited his photos around the country and eventually published a selection of them in his book.

Fulbeck, who is of Chinese, Irish, English, and Welsh descent, experienced many race-related conflicts growing up. Through his photography project, he celebrated the differences that define people.
