Acumen Fund CEO to speak at CSU April 21

The College of Business will host a conversation with Jacqueline Novogratz, the founder and CEO of Acumen Fund, a non-profit organization that takes a business approach to tackling global poverty.

Jacqueline Novogratz, the founder and CEO of Acumen FundThe free event, “Building an Inclusive Future with Patient Capital,” will be held from 2-3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 21, in Room 228 of the Lory Student Center on campus.

Can entrepreneurial innovation drive social change?

The discussion at the event will focus on using philanthropic capital to invest in scalable businesses that serve the poor with life-changing goods and services. It will also ask the question, “Can entrepreneurial innovation drive social change?”

'The Blue Sweater'

Novogratz is the author of “The Blue Sweater,” which tells stories of bridging the gap between the poor and the rich.  She currently serves on the Board of the Aspen Institute as well as the advisory councils of Stanford Graduate School of Business and MIT's Legatum Center.

Novogratz has received Ernst & Young’s 2008 Entrepreneur of the Year Award, the 2009 Center for the Advancement of Sustainable Enterprise Leadership in Social Entrepreneurship Award and Advertising Women of New York's 2009 Changing the Game Award.

GSSE Speaker Series

The event is part of a Speaker Series from the Global Social & Sustainable Enterprise MBA Program, which equips students to become global social entrepreneurs, improving the lives of people while building profitable ventures.
