Don't let it be said that your summer was "uneventful!"  The Lagoon Concert Series is the perfect way to enjoy Fort Collins' balmy, beautiful evenings and its music scene.

In its 19th year, the Lagoon series brings local musicians to a large outdoor venue on Colorado State University's luscious lawns west of the Lory Student Center's Lagoon.

Admission to all concerts is free.  Don't forget blankets, chairs, picnic dinners, friends and family.

Exuberant, unforgettable band

The Skean Dubh Celtic Band will perform at Colorado State University's Wednesday, Aug. 4 Lagoon concert. Skean Dubh (pronounced Skeen Doo) is one of the most enjoyable acoustic bands in the Rocky Mountain region.

Diverse repertoire

Their diverse repertoire spans centuries with fire-driven instrumentals, Scottish ballads, Irish pub-songs, and gorgeous slow airs.

These versatile musicians have received accolades consistently over the years for their exuberant performances. They have that unique combination of traditional melodies, driving rhythmic accompaniment, and extremely musical vocals that make their performances unforgettable.

The unusual instrumentation of the Skean Dubh Celtic Band includes the traditional fiddle, as well as the bouzouki, Uilleann pipes, and others.

The music may be Folk, but the drive and enthusiasm are akin to full on rock. Skean Dubh has continually delighted audiences both with their musical styling and with their unusual instrumentation (a unique blend of traditional and modern instruments) including: fiddle, guitar, banjo, bouzouki, Uilleann pipes, whistles, mandolin, bodhran, djembe, doumbek, and accordion.

A brief history

Since 1994 Skean Dubh has performed at numerous, major Celtic festivals such as the Colorado Irish Festival, Kiowa Celtic Highland Games, Rocky Mountain Highland Games, Longs Peak Scottish Festival, High Plains Scottish Irish Festival, and the Grand Junction Celtic Festival.

Skean Dubh has also appeared live on local radio and television shows, including KGNU, KRFC, and Channel 54 in Louisville, Colo.
