Finance Professor Vickie Bajtelsmit joins National Finance Literacy Council

Vickie Bajtelsmit, head of the Finance Department, has recently been elected a member of the Board of Directors for the Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy.

Jump$tart is a non-profit organization based out of Washington, D.C., that is dedicated to improving the financial literacy of pre-kindergarten through college-age youth. They accomplish this through providing advocacy, research, standards and educational resources.

Jump$tart was founded in 1995, based on an idea by William E. Odom, who at the time was chairman and CEO of Ford Motor Credit Corporation. Today, the organization is partnered with more than 100 national organizations from the government, academic, and non-profit sectors. The organization believes through collaboration more resources and expertise are available for this nationwide mission.

Bajtelsmit has been a professor in the College of Business for Colorado State University since 1991. She has been published in several premier academic and professional journals as well as written several different books on personal finance.
