Paint the 'A' on Aug. 25

August 22, 2012

Register to paint the 'A' on Aug. 25 and take part in the annual tradition that dates back to 1924. There are three shifts available, and participants should expect to spend roughly three hours each shift.

Be a part of the tradition

Painting the A white became a Colorado State tradition in 1924. Join us Saturday, Aug. 25 to continue this tradition. There will be three shifts for three hours each. See details below:

Check-in at Moby Arena parking lot for each of the following shifts:

  • 9 a.m.-11 a.m.: Check-in begins at 8 a.m./ Bus departs Moby Arena at 8:30 a.m.
  • 11 a.m.-1 p.m.: Check-in begins at 10 a.m./ Bus departs Moby Arena at 10:30 a.m.
  • 1 p.m.-3 p.m.: Check-in begins at 12 p.m./ Bus departs Moby Arena at 12:30 p.m.

Each shift is about three hours long, including travel time to and from the 'A.' Participants are expected to stay for the duration of their scheduled shift and should wear clothing that can get paint on them.

Free transportation provided

There will be free transportation to and from the 'A,' and all participants are required to use the provided transportation, as there will be no available parking at the 'A.'

Buses will depart promptly from the Moby Arena parking lot.

What you should expect

When painting the 'A,' expect to help with using spray hoses hooked up to generators and via buckets of paint. Painting the 'A' also involves other tasks such as re-filling supplies, maintenance, light lifting and clean-up. It takes a lot to get the 'A' ready for the year, but being a part of the tradition is well worth it!
