Turkey Dinner Drive an annual tradition for SLiCE

November 10, 2009

The Office of Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement is sponsoring a cash drive for the Larimer County Food Bank to help to provide Thanksgiving meals to families in need.

Be a winner, donate a dinner

Thousands of families in Larimer County will not have a turkey to dress this year. The holidays are a time when we particularly remember our neighbors who are going hungry. Sadly, 60 percent of those who are at risk of hunger in our County are children and seniors. You can help!

The Office of Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement will be sponsoring a cash drive to support the purchase of turkeys and fixings for the Larimer County Food Bank. If you would like to make a donation, please bring cash or a check made out to “Food Bank for Larimer County” to the SLiCE office, located on the main level of the Lory Student Center directly behind the Information Desk. Donations should be made before Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2009.

This year we are providing the opportunity for every donation to count towards Thanksgiving dinner staples, such as stuffing, mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. Below is an itemized list of these staples and what they cost a typical family. You may donate an entire Thanksgiving dinner, or just a few items on the list. Every donation counts. Please let us know what you would like your donation to go towards. You can also make a donation to the Larimer County Food Bank online.
