CSU's Asian/Pacific American Cultural Center hosts 26th annual Asian Fest

Colorado State University's Asian/Pacific American Cultural Center will host the 26th annual Asian Fest April 19-May 7. Asian Fest celebrates Asian and Pacific American culture and raises awareness of issues currently facing Asian Americans.

A/PACC will present a series of campus events filled with rich entertainment, food, speakers, and even a Hawaiian luau – in celebration of Asian culture.

“Asian Fest is a fun, informative way for CSU students and the community to learn more about Asian American culture and engage with the Asian and Pacific American communities on campus,” A/PACC director JoAnn Cornell said.

Asian Fest’s first event will be a presentation on Aryuveda, a traditional form of India medicine, by Dr. Vimal Patel.

Workshops, lectures and performances

Throughout Asian Fest, guests and the university community will present free workshops, lectures and performances at different venues throughout the university.

“I strongly recommend that students, faculty and staff take the opportunity to attend the free events and participate in Asian Fest,” said Cornell.

Asian cuisine on the Plaza April 25    

A/PACC will be selling Indian and Asian cuisine on the Lory Student Center Plaza Monday, April 25 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Food will be available for purchase for $4- $6 dollars a plate.

Kristina Wong April 27

Kristina Wong, a spoken word artist and actress, will be giving a performance at the Lory Student Center Theatre on April 27. She will discuss mental health issues and the high rate of suicide that plagues today’s Asian Pacific Islander women. 

Victor Kim April 28

Victor Kim, a Quest Crew member and former contestant on “America’s Best Dance Crew,” will be one of the guest performers at Asian Fest. He will give a musical performance in the Lory Student Center Theater on April 28.

Luau May 1

Doors open at 4 p.m., Sunday, May 1 for the Luau organized by CSU’s Hui ‘O Hawai’i Club. The Luau will feature Hawaiian food and cultural performances. Students and community members can purchase tickets for Luau at the Lory Student Center ticket office or online at the website.

Celebration of Asian culture May 7

CSU Asian Fest will conclude with a celebration of Asian culture at the Poudre River Main Public Library from 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. May 7.  For more information, call (970) 221-6380 or
