Holiday fun in the Fort

December 22, 2011

For many of us in the Colorado State University community, Fort Collins is our 'home for the holidays.' The Fort offers many activities to choose from, including the 'Garden of Lights' at the Garden at Spring Creek. Old Town offers ice skating, a Winters Farmers' Market, and the popular 'First Night' on New Year's Eve.

Have you ever met a Sugar Plum Hairy?

You can if you visit the Garden of Lights this season, one of many "wow" holiday events taking place in Fort Collins. Stroll through a whimsically decorated garden lit by thousands of LED lights.

The Sugar Plum Hairies (canines dressed up as fairies) are a favorite part of this holiday extravaganza.  Enjoy warm drinks and sweet treats. The lights are on every night from 5-9 p.m. until Dec. 31.

The event is held at the Garden at Spring Creek, a short distance from CSU's main campus on Centre Avenue.

Downtown holiday events

During the holiday season, many amenities lure visitors to downtown Fort Collins, including the Old Town ice skating rink, horse and carriage rides, and Santa Claus and his workship.  There is free weekend parking in the downtown parking garages.

Here's a list of specific events:
