James "Jim" Phillips

James "Jim" Phillips, 69, of Fort Collins,passed away of a heart attack at his home on July 29.

Jim was born July 8, 1943, in Freeport, Ill,. to Hugh and Rachel (Fortner) Phillips. He was the second of three children.

Jim moved from Charlotte, N.C., to Fort Collins in June, 2004. Jim married Marie Bolander on Sept. 3, 2004.

Jim loved golf, NASCAR and model trains. He had a great love of nature and God. He was an avid gardener and loved everyday life on "the farm." Jim was employed at Colorado State University and was a member and greeter at Trinity Lutheran Church.

Jim is survived by his wife, Marie; his children, Jeffrey (Angela) Phillips, Julie (Richard) Garner; step-children, Lysa (Rick) Grine, Derek (Betsy) Mills, Stefany (Justin) Robert; grandchildren, Allison Phillips, Logan Garner, D.J. Grine, Madeline Mills, Loralei Robert and Dylan Robert; sisters, Carol Ann (Stan) Walicki, Mary Kay (Kenn) Groth; three nieces and one nephew; many great nieces and nephews.

Jim will be remembered for his smile, humor, affection, and a zest for all that life had blessed him with.

A Celebration of Jim's Life was held on Saturday, Aug. 4, at 10 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Fort Collins, with a reception following at the church.
