Budget philosophy and revenue picture

The hearing is the culmination of months of campus input and public meetings about the budget process and proposed budget. Administrators will discuss budget philosophy and the revenue picture in Colorado, followed by a question-and-answer session.

The university must submit a proposed budget to the state Legislature and the Governor every year.

Refined projections

In February, the university held two public "Budget 101" educational sessions for the campus and larger community. Miranda and Associate Vice President for Finance Lynn Johnson presented information designed to help attendees understand CSU's complex budget process. "Budget 101" sessions were intended to provide a detailed overview and understanding of university finances and budgeting priorities.

On Jan. 27, leaders from each college, vice presidential unit, and the provost’s and president’s offices presented their budget plan for addressing expected reductions for FY 2010-11 -- discussions that helped refine CSU’s revenue and expenditure projections for the coming year.

Financial Accountability Report online

Also in January, the university released its annual Financial Accountability Report, which presents specific, factual information regarding the university's finances, including an overview of total university revenue and expenditures. The information provided is presented in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and is consolidated into the annual audited financial statements of the Colorado State University System.
