The Chemistry Club will host its sixth annual Halloween event from 6:30-9 p.m. in the Chemistry Building on CSU's main campus, near Lake Street and Centre Avenue. Parking is ample in the nearby Lake Street Parking Garage at 1508 Centre Ave.

Hands-on science activities

The Mad Scientist Event will feature a large science show, Halloween crafts, carnival games and trick-or-treating. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on science activities, including the opportunity to make their own liquid nitrogen ice cream.

Free and fun for the whole family

"The Mad Scientist Halloween provides an opportunity to bring together CSU students and the Fort Collins community in an exciting and educational event," said Kellie Woll, member of the CSU Chemistry Club. “All the activities and shows we have planned are free and fun for the whole family."

Children of all ages are welcome, but the science-based activities are generally geared toward elementary school students. Parental supervision is required for children under age 12.

More about the Chemistry Club's outreach program

The Chemistry Club's outreach program provides educational shows for teachers throughout the Poudre Valley School District. Student volunteers offer demonstrations and hands-on activities for children in first through 12th grades as well as shows in the university residence halls.

The club does not charge for in-school demonstrations and is fully funded through its annual fundraiser of selling fashionable lab goggles to CSU chemistry students.
