Rocky Mountain Showdown continues on the Lacrosse fields April 3

March 22, 2010

Two of the nation's top club lacrosse teams face off during the seventh year of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Showdown, continuing the tradition at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. The reputation as Colorado's best lacrosse team is on the line as the Colorado State Rams and the Colorado Buffaloes head into this game.

Rams eager for revenge

The game will take place 8 p.m. April 3, earlier in the season than it traditionally has been. This is the first year the Showdown will take place at the Park, and it will be sponsored by The Colorado Mammoths and the Colorado State Lacrosse Alumni Association.

The Rams are the traditional winners of this competition, having won it the first five years, but last year, for the first time, the Buffaloes won, leaving the Rams eager for revenge. The Rams have a history of winning, including five Rocky Mountain Collegiate Lacrosse, or RMCL, championship titles, and being the only team in MCLA history to have won four national championships. They intend to uphold this tradition to the best of their abilities this year.

Last season the Buffaloes had a regular season standing of 12-5, and they defeated the Rams 4-11. And this year they opened their season with an explosion against UNC, winning 13-2, and they have a win record this season of 5-1. But the Rams are not intimidated, trusting in their motto “family” and hard work to prepare them for the game.
