Family Night Under the Stars

Astronomy Night is co-sponsored by Colorado State, the Northern Colorado Astronomical Society, and Fox Acres in Red Feather. The event is free and open to the public.

Imagine a drive to beautiful Red Feather this weekend for an "astronomy extravaganza." The evening ends with you and your family, snuggled in blankets under a night sky, gazing at the constellations.

Soaring Eagle Ecology Center is proud to present Astronomy Night this Saturday, August 3. This free, wondrous event is also co-sponsored by CSU, the Northern Colorado Astronomical Society, and Fox Acres.

The event will begin at the Fox Acres Clubhouse and move to the driving range, where the sky will be darker. 

Evening activities

CSU Little Shop of Physics

Fun, interactive activities for all ages located in the Fox Acres Clubhouse (main level).

3-D live presentation

Andrew Warnock, Ph.D., with Colorado State's College of Natural Sciences Education and Outreach Center, will present a 3-D live presentation in lower level of the clubhouse.

Astronomy photos

Roger Appeldorn with NCAS will display his fantastic astronomy photos on the main level of the clubhouse.

Inside look at NACS

Charlie Davis will answer questions about NCAS and astronomy on the main level.

Constellation presentation

As the sky darkens, there will be constellation presentation at the driving range by Teresa Jiles with the National Park Service Night Sky Program. Jile's presentation will be followed by night telescope viewing at the driving range. 

This free community event is hosted by Fox Acres and open to the public.

Bring lawn chairs, blankets, flashlights

Bring lawn chairs or blankets for night viewing at the driving range. Flashlights are also recommended but please cover flashlights with red cellophane (available at clubhouse) so as not to disturb night viewing.
